Alex is an AI-powered app that combines technology with the latest psychology research to help people break free from bad habits and transcend into better mental health. Having successfully brought our first product for smoking cessation to market, we are now building a platform for hosting a variety of similar digital health products. These applications are typically content-heavy, meaning that they contain many short informative text snippets, questionnaires and psychological tools, etc.

We have developed a new type of web API, called a content-driven API, for communication between mobile applications, our back-end servers and our content management system. One reason for developing a content-driven API is to launch new products and features without writing a lot of boilerplate code. Another equally important reason is to make dynamic applications, where every user gets a personalized version of the app. This is done via machine learning methods.

We are looking for a student that wants to carry out his/her degree project within this area. The project involves further development of our content-driven API, to formalize and document a standard for general purposes, and benchmark it against other popular protocols such as REST and GraphQL. The student will work with cloud- and microservices, get hands-on experience with a range of AWS tools, and design an architecture that allows machine learning algorithms to personalize the API response. Besides a final report and presentation, the project may lead to a scientific publication or open source software, or a full-time engineering position.

Students in the final year of their studies pursuing either a bachelor's or a master's degree are welcome to apply.
